Overview

Camping Saint Jean, ideal for all types of stays

This campsite in Brest has held VACAF approval since 2014. It offers, in a green setting, the rental of mobile homes and lodges, in addition to pitches.

The rental accommodations with sea views, for some of them, can accommodate 2 to 8 people. Their surface areas, ranging from 20 m2 to 40 m2, are ideal for couples, families and large groups.

Each mobile home in northern Finistère is equipped with a semi-open wooden terrace. This lets guests enjoy the campsite’s pleasant setting in any weather and any season. These accommodations come in several ranges (Comfort, Premium, etc.). There is also an accommodation for people with reduced mobility (PMR). All rental accommodations are fitted with low-energy light bulbs and water flow reducers to protect the environment. Pets are accepted, under certain conditions, in the mobile homes.

As for the pitches, they are spread across the 4 hectares of the Breton campsite and are bordered by hedgerows. Three of them are adapted for people with reduced mobility. Some offer sea views. Campers have access to three sanitary blocks evenly distributed across the site.

    Frequently asked questions

How can you organise a stay without a car at Camping Saint Jean?
To reach Camping Saint Jean without a car, you need to plan your arrival a little in advance. The campsite states that it is located 15 km from Brest railway station and 16 km from Brest Bretagne airport. The nearest bus stop is 2.5 km from the campsite, which may require extra organisation if you have luggage. For cyclists and hikers, the website specifies that the establishment is at the bottom of a 2.5 km descent. The campsite even recommends following the car route rather than bicycle GPS directions. This information is useful if you are planning a touring stay in Brittany or arriving by public transport.
Is sea swimming possible from the campsite?
The proximity of the water at Camping Saint Jean does not necessarily mean sea swimming right in front of your pitch. The campsite specifies that its coastline is ideal for fishing, walks or kayaking, but not for swimming. This distinction is important if you are mainly looking for an accessible beach to swim in. However, the setting remains appealing for enjoying the inlet, observing the coastline and engaging in gentle activities by the water. To swim on site, the main option therefore remains the campsite's aquatic area. You can thus plan a stay focused on discovering northern Finistère, with your water time centred around the pool instead.
When are the entertainment activities offered at Camping Saint Jean?
The entertainment activities at Camping Saint Jean are concentrated during the summer school holidays. The website mentions family entertainment such as concerts, karaoke, bingo nights or crêpe evenings. This helps you better understand the campsite atmosphere depending on the chosen period. Outside the summer school holidays, the stay seems more suited to a calm pace, focused on sightseeing, walks and rest. For children, the kids' club is offered in July and August, from 10:30am to 12pm, with sports or leisure activities. The campsite also states that it does not currently have equipment or a specific area for teenagers.
What should you know about the aquatic area before booking?
The aquatic area at Camping Saint Jean includes a heated indoor pool, a paddling pool and outdoor water slides depending on the season. The indoor pool is announced as open from April to September, while the outdoor water slides are listed as available from 3 June to 28 August. The website specifies that the pool is reserved exclusively for campers. It also states that the swimming area is unsupervised, which requires particular vigilance with children. Only swimwear is allowed in the aquatic area. This setup allows you to enjoy swimming even when Brittany's weather is more unpredictable.
Which services really make a stay easier on site?
Camping Saint Jean offers several practical services that can simplify a holiday in the Finistère. In particular, you will find a laundry room with a washing machine, dryer and ironing board, as well as an iron and vacuum cleaner available on request at reception. WIFI is free throughout the campsite, which can be useful for planning your outings or staying connected. The campsite also offers kayak, electric bike and paddleboard rental. Two charging points of up to 22 kW are available on site, at an additional cost. These details are useful if you are planning an active stay, with outings or activities around Plougastel-Daoulas.
Is it easy to eat at the campsite during your holiday?
For meals, Camping Saint Jean offers practical solutions, although their availability depends on the season. The snack bar is announced as open from 6 July to 24 August. The website mentions in particular pizzas, chips, cheeseburgers, ice creams and local produce. The bar-restaurant is listed for the same period, open from 8:30am to 10am and then from 4pm to 10pm. Bread, pastries and local beers are available throughout the opening period, and a small grocery shop is open from April to the end of September. It is also possible to reserve baguettes, croissants and pains au chocolat in the morning.
Does Camping Saint Jean accept pets?
Pets are accepted at Camping Saint Jean, subject to certain conditions. The website specifies that category 1 and 2 dogs are not allowed. Pets must also be kept on a leash during the stay. This rule helps preserve the peace and quiet of campers and safety in the communal areas. It is also stated that a surcharge applies depending on the type of stay, on a pitch or in a mobile home. Before booking, it is still advisable to check the exact conditions if you are travelling with a pet, particularly depending on the chosen accommodation.
Is the campsite suitable for group stays?
Camping Saint Jean is not designed for large groups of more than 8 people. The website clearly states that it cannot accommodate group bookings, as the campsite's layout is not suited to this. It also specifies that there is no area set aside for gatherings. Complete silence is required by 11pm at the latest, confirming an organisation geared towards calm stays that respect the campsite's environment. This information is useful if you are planning a weekend with friends, a party or a family gathering. For a classic stay as a couple, family or small group, the setting will be more consistent with the stated way the campsite operates.
